Bedford, TX Police Dept. implements Exchange Zones

The Bedford Police Department, in partnership with Wildfire Camera Networks, has implemented a program known as the “Exchange Zone.” The program is designed to provide a safer alternative for the exchange of goods purchased over the internet (for instance, responding to a Craigslist add) and/or child custodial exchanges.

The Police Department has designated three clearly marked parking spaces in the front parking lot of the Law Enforcement Center. These parking spaces and the lanes of travel to and from the parking spaces are under constant video surveillance. The Law Enforcement Center is located at 2121 L. Don Dodson Drive, Bedford, Texas.

As part of the Exchange Zone program, the Police Department welcomes the public inside the lobby during normal business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) to request a check of serial and/or VIN numbers to ascertain if the item(s) are stolen.

The Bedford Police Department encourages citizens to consider safer options, such as the Exchange Zone, when arranging a location to conduct e-commerce style transactions.
